However, if you claim that you didn’t drool while watching the Momoshiki fight, you’re just lying to yourself and the world. We’re going to continue some of that hype in the best way we know how: Imagining fights across all of anime time and space. Here are my picks for matchups against Momoshiki that could’ve left Naruto and Sasuke on the bench.
5. Yami Sukehiro
Anime: Black Clover You don’t have to say anything. I already know this battle is iffy as all hell. But I still think there’s a universe where Yami comes out on top. This is all because of his Dimension Slash. Just like the Rasengan, this attack bypasses all of your defenses and obliterates anyone in its path. We’ve seen Momoshiki take damage from an incredibly small and weak Rasengan (the one thrown by Boruto in the beginning), so we know that he’s quite squishy if you catch him by surprise. I do think that Yami is far more capable of catching Momoshiki off guard than Boruto, since his slashes are incredibly quick and cover a wide area. So it just becomes a waiting game where Yami searches for the perfect moment. In terms of speed, I’d wager that Yami is at least comparable to Momoshiki. Momoshiki scaling to Naruto means that he’s light speed+ and since Yami has dodged lightning attacks, he should be in the same ballpark. Plus, Yami’s Mana Zone plus Ki sensing technique should keep him safe for the most part. And on top of all that, Yami is seen constantly getting stronger as the fight progresses, meaning that a power-up is always possible. All of that being said: I do also acknowledge that Momoshiki far surpasses Yami in raw destructive force. The dude literally cut a God tree in half by flexing, so there’s no denying his power. Overall, if Yami manages to land a perfect Dimension Slash, he has it in the bag. If that doesn’t work out and he fails to boost his power immensely throughout the fight, Momoshiki stomps.
4. Satan
Anime: Devilman: Crybaby If that last pick made it seem like I was low-balling Momoshiki, this matchup should put into perspective just how powerful he is. Although we only saw Satan fight for a very short duration, it gave us more than enough evidence that they scale above Momoshiki in terms of raw stats. In order to be defeated, the entire planet had to be destroyed. And even then, it’s hinted that Satan will just be born again. That’s rather impressive levels of endurance. One could make the argument that Momoshiki still wins (as the light novel does depict him munching on a planet more or less), but I’d rather keep it to anime feats only. Plus Satan is simply far more powerful in terms of raw strength. In the fight with Akira, they go around the entire globe multiple times while exchanging blows, creating explosions visible from space. So even though Momoshiki can absorb most magic attacks, he doesn’t have an answer to a punch that will take him through six time zones. All of this is to say that defeating Momoshiki is no measly task. Unless you’re at least at country-level in terms of destruction, you don’t stand much of a chance.
3. Meliodas
Anime: The Seven Deadly Sins When at full power, I’m willing to wager that Meliodas is comparable to late-game Naruto – and thus should be able to defeat Momoshiki. The fight wouldn’t be at all one-sided, but I think Meliodas wins nine times out of ten. This is because late-game Meliodas should be absolutely insane if we go by the official power levels for each phase. Starting at a measly 3370, Meliodas would eventually climb up to the 800k-1 mil range by the end of the series. This is quite relevant when we consider the feats his weakest form has under its belt. Dodging lightning attacks multiple times and destroying a mountain by just waving a stick. Multiply those feats by 200 or 300, and you’d get a planet buster more than capable of going toe to toe with Momoshiki. And we haven’t even mentioned his arsenal! Both his Full and Revenge counter are just better versions of Momoshiki’s Rinnegan absorption, and his clone technique is bound to give Momoshiki some unpleasant flashbacks. Meliodas can also brush off missing limbs and most fatal attacks as he has seven hearts and a level of regeneration that would severely prolong the fight. Since the later seasons of The Seven Deadly Sins is a PowerPoint presentation, I can’t say much more about Meliodas’ feats or his battle prowess. So just take my math at face value and go along with it.
2. Rimuru Tempest
Anime: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime There’s one thing I’ve neglected to mention about Momoshiki up until this point. And that’s his intelligence. The dude saw through seven-layer maneuvers when fighting Naruto and Sasuke, and that is quite the notable feat. But compared to Rimuru, Momoshiki is only a novice. This is because Rimuru has an almost omniscient voice in their head that can analyze and dissect just about anything. Plus, Rimuru’s own thinking speed is way above any normal human. But that’s not the only area where Rimuru takes what Momoshiki has & vastly improves upon it. While Momoshiki thinks he’s tough for absorbing Jutsu, Rimuru is out here absorbing entire people. Not only is this a one-shot ability, but it also allows Rimuru to scale indefinitely. But what about basic stats, like speed or strength? For this one, I’m actually going to look at Rimuru’s followers. Since we know that Rimuru is stronger than them in every way (being that they owe their power to Rimuru) we can come up with some insane numbers. Benimaru casually throws out mountain-sized attacks that completely destroy the target. On the other hand, Hakurou can move so quickly that he can chop an enemy’s head off before they can even comprehend what’s going on. Not to mention that said enemy had the ability to greatly enhance their vision and reaction speed. So by the rules of logic, Rimuru should out-scale both of these characters greatly – and thus be more than powerful enough to face Momoshiki as well.
1. Boros
Anime: One Punch Man I left Boros for last in my ranking, because this is the fight I’d be the most eager to see. Not only are these two characters thematically identical (being alien overlords that came to Earth to flex their muscles), but they’re a similar power level as well. That being said, I still think Boros would have a slight edge. This is mostly due to the fact that his physical strength surpasses anything we’ve seen Momoshiki dish out. His punches carry enough force to turn the entire surrounding area molten and a fully charged kick is capable of sending an enemy to the Moon. This is a feat that not even Naruto has properly showcased, so it’s a major plus. Furthermore, Boros’ regenerative abilities are bound to give Momoshiki some headaches as well. Not only can he grow back severed limbs, but he can put his entire body back together in an instant after being completely blown up. Now let’s talk speed. Because speed is a bit more difficult to calculate… but since he’s capable of keeping up with Saitama (who went from the Moon to Earth in about a second) he should be at least light speed. That’s a bit slower than Momoshiki, but it shouldn’t be a big enough difference to completely sway the fight. Overall in a matchup of Borus vs. Momoshiki, I think Momoshiki wins in terms of speed. But since Boros is physically stronger and more durable, I’m willing to bet that he could take the W in the end.
