And you may be wondering which Servants are best to invest scarce resources into during your first playthrough. Well we’ve got you covered. Here’s a list of several Servants you can feel comfortable using your prized materials to level up!
5. Hans Christian Andersen (Caster)
Hans will be your premier support Servant until you manage to summon that coveted Waver. His skills center around generating crit stars, dishing out critical buffs, and spamming his NP thanks to that 75% charge of his. Said NP will be supplying your party with even more buffs to hopefully take out some hard-to-kill enemies. You may be able to steamroll FGO’s early game by mindlessly pressing red Buster cards. But when strategic team building becomes a necessity, you’ll be thankful to have invested in Hans.
4. Arash (Archer)
Arash is the saving grace for new Masters hoping to clear event quests. Arash’s NP is a huge AOE nuke with a lot more damage than a lowly one-star servant should have. However, by using his NP, Arash will ultimately sacrifice his life in the process. This may seem like a detriment, but in actuality it’s an additional benefit. Arash can take care of the first wave of low-level enemies before dying off to allow a free switch into your backline of harder-hitting DPS or support Servants!
3. Cú Chulainn (Lancer)
Cú is a great three-star Lancer who can dish out heavy damage while also being incredibly difficult to take out. His claim to fame is his “protection from arrows” ability, which grants him evade three times. You read that right; not for three turns, but for three times. Meaning Cú will need to actually be hit those three times before his evade wavers. When coupled with Cú’s Guts ability, you can cycle evades and revives to the point where Cú is seemingly unkillable! Use this time to charge up your NP and unleash a Gae Bolg that will (hopefully) inflict Death on your opponent – killing them instantly. Good luck!
2. Mash (Shielder)
Don’t think just because Mash is a free unit given to everyone just for playing FGO that she should be overlooked. Usually in gacha games, the main character or partner unit given to new players is not worth a second glance. However, in Mash’s case she remains one of the best support tanks in the entire game! Mash’s skills are all about defense. Her skill one is a party-wide damage cut and defense buff, while her other skills consist of a targetable invincibility buff (and a small NP charge) as well as a taunt. When combined, these skills will laugh in the face of single-target attacks and NPs, as Mash can tank them until the cows come home! Mash’s NP is also a great defensive tool that gives party-wide support when fully charged. Mash is everyone’s favorite kohai for a reason. So make sure you show her the love she deserves by investing in her skills.
1. Heracles (Berserker)
Heracles is the gold standard when it comes to reroll priority in FGO. With an SSR rate as abysmally low as what we get in FGO, trying to get lucky and bag a Waver is not very viable. What is viable, however, is rerolling for Heracles during the tutorial guaranteed four-star summon. Heracles trivializes the early game with huge damage thanks to his Berserker class advantage, as well as using defensive skills like Evade and Guts to keep the pain train moving. Pair Heracles up with a support Cú and you should be able to sleepwalk through FGO’s first few Singularities. When you eventually do hit a roadblock (likely in Camelot), you should hopefully have expanded your Chaldea’s roster enough to take on any new foes that stand in your way.
